Collection: Deer & Rabbit Resistant Plants
Plants that are deer-resistant share some traits. Aromatic foliage, like that of salvia, wormwood, boxwood and strong-scented herbs, deters browsing. Allium, chives and other members of the onion family are deer-resistant for the same reason. Toxic species or those that cause gastric distress, like hellebore, monkshood, oleander and yew, generally find less favour with the voracious animals but they also can be harmful to pets. Ornamental grasses with sharp-edged leaves, and spiny species, like prickly pear cactus, make for unpleasant eating as well. Honeysuckle's fragrant flowers may help with deer deterrence.
